There are 3 types of maps supported by gomanager, and this article will break down the steps needed for each of them. Easy!
From the panel on the left-hand side in your gomanager account, under "Content", click on the "Maps" section, and on the "+Add a New Map" button on the top right:
From there, you will be able to select one of the following 3 options:
1 - Image Map
2 - Geo Map
3 - Custom Map * only available upon purchase of the Advanced Map option *
** In order to place pins on any of the 3 maps, you will need to have created locations in the Places section of gomanager first **
IMAGE MAP:
This option allows you to upload a designed map of your event site to help users find their way. Simply upload your image as a PNG or JPG, and add pins to draw attention to specific points of interest.
NOTE: Since this is just an image, it is NOT an interactive map. Users will not be able to view their real-time location with this type of map.
Now let’s get started!
Ideal Specs:
- Supported formats: JPG, PNG
- Max file size: 20 MB
- Tip: Image resolution of at least 800 x 800 px is ideal
1- Click on one of the locations previously added to the Places section of gomanager.
2- Drag and drop the pin to its location on the map
3- Click Publish and check it out in the app!
GEO MAP:
This options uses Google Maps to help users find their way around, and allows them to spot their real-time location (provided they have granted this permission to the app).
NOTE: Since this map is using Google Maps, we have no control over the locations that may already exist on the map. These are added by Google, and can unfortunately not be changed in the app.
Now let’s get started!
1- Click on one of the locations previously added to the Places section of gomanager.
2- Drag and drop the pin to its location on the map
3- Click Publish and check it out in the app!
HOT TIP: If you have assigned coloured tags to your venues, these will be carried over to the pins on the map. Magic!
CUSTOM MAP:
This option is a mix of the two previous ones: it allows you to upload a designed map over a Google Maps backdrop. Users can see their real-time location on the map as well as see your designed map, all in one.
Now let’s get started!
Ideal Specs:
- Min size : 800 x 800 px
- Maximum size : 3500 x 3500 px
- Resolution : high resolution is better
- Image format : must be in PNG or JPEG format
- Weight : File size must not exceed 20.0 MB.
- Orientation: oriented to the north and to the scale, otherwise the pins will not fall correctly on the map.
1 - After selecting the Custom Map option, upload your designed image.
2- Set the opacity level, adjust the size, and place it on top of Google Maps so everything lines up perfectly. When you’re happy with the result, click on “Done editing”.
3- From the panel on the left-hand side, click on one of the locations that you’ve previously added in the “Places” section.
4 - Drag and drop the pin to its location on the map.
5- Click Publish and check it out in the app!
HOT TIP: If you have the Advanced Map option, you also have a list of venue categories already created for you in gomanager in the Places section e.g. ATM, Toilets, Stages, Charging Stations, etc. If you assign these tags to your venues, users will be able to filter the different pins on the map according to these categories. Magic!
